Our understanding of playoff seeding:
MAIS tiebreaker system (applied once the “big 4” / Division I is set by power points):
Power points select the four teams for Division I. Once those four are locked in, power points are no longer used for seeding within that group. Seeding instead follows the standard MAIS football tiebreaker sequence (applied continuously until every place is resolved):
- Head-to-head competition among the teams involved in the tie.
- Record against common opponents (from best to worst among the tied group).
- Point differential among the teams involved in the tie (typically capped, historically at 18 points per game).
- Point differential against other relevant teams / all MAIS opponents.
- Coin flip if still unresolved.
